LuciaThe tiny "town" of Lucia is privately owned, with a gas station and a restaurant which is opened from 7am-dusk, when they shut off the generator. South of Lucia (at the white cross) the road to the left leads to the Immaculate Heart Hermitage of the Camaldolese Hermits, a small Benedictine monastery at the former Lucia Ranch. the sign says that the monks "regret we cannot invite you to camp, hunt, or enjoy a walk on out property" due to the hermitage's customary solitude and avoidance of "unnecessary speaking." But visitors can come and buy crafts and homemade fruitcake and attend daily mass. |
