Malibu

During the "Panic of 1857", an Irishman purchased Malibu, then a sprawling rancho, for 10 cents an acre.

Stretching 27 miles along the Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu is wedged between the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. At its widest point the strip is three miles wide; at its narrowest, just one mile.

Many artists, writers, and well-known entertainers live here, including Johnny Carson, Sean Penn, Emilio Estavez, Victoria Principal, Michael Jackson, and Mark Hamill.
