Kadoka is a Lakota word for "hole in the wall", because of its proximity to the Badlands wall.
Badlands Petrified Gardens (off I-90, exit 152) contains petrified logs and stumps, some of which area among the largest specimens in the Badlands. In an indoor display are fluorescent minerals and fossils native to the Badlands. Open 8-5. Admission: $5.
The Prairie Homestead (I-90 exit 131, 2 mi south) was built and occupied by homesteaders in 1909. Open 8-5. Admission: $2.50
The Ranch Store is recognizable by the giant prairie dog along the road. There is a prairie dog town and rattlesnakes on display here.
