Wall

Wall is the northern gateway to the Badlands National Park and the home of the well-known Wall Drug Store. Main Street still has many buildings constructed during the days of the western expansion. Ruts made by wagons that carried prospectors and their supplies to the goldfield of the Black Hills are still visible on the nearby prairie.

Wall Drug What began as the only drugstore in a small, dusty town became famous as the "Ice Water Store." It now takes up most of Main Street of Wall. You can still can still buy aspirin here and wash them down with a glass of that free ice water, but that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Wall Drug has, among other things, a chapel, a clothing store and boot shop, a bookstore, a harness shop, an art gallery; and a staggering assortment of Western "attractions", from a replica of Mt. Rushmore to a six-foot Jackalope, a mounted buffalo, and a life-size carving of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid made from a 187 year-old cedar tree. Approximately 20,000 tourists stop by Wall Drug a day in the summer.

Wild West Historical Wax Museum (Main St across from Wall Drug displays replicas of such famous Wild West characters as Wild Bill Hickok, Jesse James, Wyatt Earp, and John Wayne. Open 8 am - 10 pm. Admission: $3.50
