Boulder Mountain, at 9,200 feet, rises from the northwestern edge of the Aquarius Plateau, which tops out at 11,600 feet above sea level, making it one of America's highest plateaus. Viewpoints along the drive have sweeping panoramas of the Escalante canyon country, Circle Cliffs, Waterpocket Fold, and the Henry Mountains.
