This is the original hunting lodge built by Buffalo Bill at the turn of the century, and is now on the National Historic Register.
Back in the 1880s Cody first rode into this area. Around 1904 he opened his lodge, called Pahaska Teepee, translated into the Sioux Indian tongue as "Long Hair's Lodge." (His Indian name was Pahaska, or "Long Hair") From the beginning the lodge was intended as a tourist stop over on their journey to Yellowstone. Of course hunting was then, and still is, some o the best in the world and Buffalo Bill, no doubt had this in mind. In the early years notables and even royalty from around the world were Cody's guest on hunting trips at Pahaska.
