You haven’t experienced true natural beauty until you've visited the Arbuckle Mountains in Chickasaw Country. The ecological diversity of the range moves from forest to prairie to grassland with an abundance of natural springs, and the beautiful rock formations create a natural architecture of granite, limestone, dolemite, sandstone and shale that sets the mountains apart from all others in the state.
Be sure to visit the Arbuckle Wilderness Center, which houses a wide array of native and exotic wildlife. The Arbuckle Mountains are also near a favorite Oklahoma attraction, Turner Falls, with its 77-foot waterfall, Rock Castle, hiking trails, cabins and beaches.
The Arbuckle Mountains also annually hosts the Hills of Oklahoma Tour (HOOT), a cycling event held each fall in the beautiful terrain surrounding Davis, Oklahoma. Rather than being a race or competition, the HOOT tour is simply meant to encourage participants to get out there and explore the great outdoors. It’s a chance for riders to enjoy the peace, relish the views and connect with nature in the hills of southern Oklahoma in a truly unforgettable way.
