Portraits of Elders

at Chickasaw Cultural Center

As a tribute to cherished elders, the Chickasaw Cultural Center is displaying original portraits by world-renowned Chickasaw artist, Mike Larsen.

Noted by Larsen as one of his greatest achievements, the Chickasaw elders paintings were published in a two-book series by the Chickasaw Press: “They Know Who They Are” and “Proud to Be Chickasaw.” Nearly 50 Chickasaw elders are represented across the two volumes with each accompanied by a short biography written by Martha Larsen and Jeannie Barbour.

See Portraits of Elders in the Aaittafama’ Room during daily business hours until Friday, March 1. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
