Three Sisters Celebration

at Chickasaw Cultural Center

Every spring for many generations, Chickasaws use an ancient intercropping method to grow corn, beans and squash. Known as the Three Sisters, the plants help one another grow as the corn grows tall, giving the beans space to vine with squash below protecting the soil’s moisture and nutrients.

This harmonious connection with nature is on full display at the annual Three Sisters Celebration March 14-18 at the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur. The five-day festival celebrates spring’s arrival with a host of activities including live stomp dance demonstrations, garden tours, storytelling, children’s crafts, traditional foods and games in the Chickasaw village and much more.

Come see centuries of Chickasaw art, history and language unfold at the Three Sisters Celebration March 14-18.
