Beginning in 2011, Kim Thoman has made duality the ultimate subject of her art. Directly and viscerally, she delves into seeming opposites with art that juxtaposes two media — such as digital panels next to traditional paintings, or welded steel next to oil canvases. Two modes of working reflect her interest in the dynamic of dualities and the connections between nature and culture, body and soul, stillness and movement, the mechanical and the organic, life and death.
Thoman’s exhibit “Duality” will be on display at the Goddard Center from July 31 through October 13. This exhibit is free and open to the public. The galleries at the Goddard Center are open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, Saturdays 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and closed on major holidays.
