As one of the largest reservoirs in the United States, Lake Texoma draws millions of visitors each year from both north and south of the Red River. It spans through the Texas towns of Denison, Sherman and Gainesville and through the Oklahoma towns of Durant, Ardmore and Madill.

A man-made lake, Texoma was created in 1944 to control flooding and is formed by the Denison Dam and the Red River. In the 21st century, however, it is primarily known as a premier recreation destination. Lake Texoma State Park offers activities for all types of adventurers, from boaters and hikers to campers and horseback riders. But what it's really famous for is its striped bass, giving Texoma the nickname of the Striper Capital of the World.
