Based on the idea of the uncanny as a sense of displacement, the photographs in this Oklahoma City Museum of Art exhibition build subtle tensions as a way to reconcile the familiar with the unknown. Expect to see photos that convert nature into unrecognizable abstract impressions of reality, intrude on moments of intimacy, weave enigmatic narratives, challenge notions of time and memory and elicit unsettling sensations that challenge your intellectual mastery. “The Unsettled Lens” showcases both new acquisitions in photography and photographs from the permanent collection, stretching from the early 20th century to the year 2000.
