The Oklahoma Opry grew from a love of music and family and has become an important part of Oklahoma’s musical culture and history. At home in the theater in Oklahoma City’s historic Stockyards City, the Opry hosts a weekly family-friendly live music show that has been proclaimed “Oklahoma’s Official Country Music Show.”

The Oklahoma Theater has seen its fair share of country music stardom, having hosted such heavy hitters as Reba McEntire, Wanda Jackson, Jody Miller, Byron Berline and Cody Canada of Cross Canadian Ragweed. Saturday night performances of “Oklahoma’s Official Country Music Show” feature both new talent from around the state and veterans of the Opry stage. Tune in Sundays at 8 p.m. to see Oklahoma Opry shows televised on KSBI TV 52.

The Oklahoma Opry also performs community outreach and education through the Opry Heritage Foundation of Oklahoma. In addition, students from across Oklahoma learn about local history through an educational music experience titled “Oklahoma Heritage Concerts” presented to school groups on field trips to the Oklahoma Opry. Workshops for kids, teens and burgeoning songwriters are available, too.

While you’re hanging out in Stockyards City, be sure to check out the world-famous Cattlemen’s Steakhouse, and pick up some new cowpoke gear at Little Joe’s Boots and Shorty’s Caboy Hattery!
