Nearly Free Destinations

Lake Texoma State Park is home to one of the largest reservoirs in the United States. Famous for its striped bass, Texoma has been dubbed the Striper Capital of the World. Kingston, Oklahoma, even celebrates the popularity of striper fishing with the Kingston Striper Festival held each June.

Journey through Oklahoma's oldest national park, the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, which has served as a haven for outdoors enthusiasts since 1902. Water in all forms, from springs and streams to lakes and more, is the area's main attraction.

As the only Native American tribe to create its own brand of fine chocolate, the Chickasaw Nation takes great pride in its Bedré products. Bring your sweet tooth, and get ready for melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Visitors receive a free sample just for stopping in.

What started as a one-day event in 2008 has since swelled to three and now brings upwards of 60,000 music fans to the heart of downtown Main Street. Check out Norman Music Festival for a weekend full of music, arts, entertainment and camaraderie with fellow festival buffs.

Myriad Botanical Gardens

The Myriad Botanical Gardens act as a lush, landscaped oasis in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City. The recently remodeled gardens’ 17 acres draw everyone from concert goers to families to those just looking to enjoy the natural environment.

Exhibit C

Located in Oklahoma City's Bricktown entertainment district, Exhibit C is one of the latest additions to the downtown area's artistic and retail offerings, housing an art gallery with handcrafted work by Chickasaw artists, both on display and for sale.

Red Earth Art Center
Oklahoma City, OK

Red Earth is home to an impressive permanent collection of over 1,400 objects of Native American fine art, pottery, basketry, textiles and beadwork. Each June, Oklahoma City welcomes the Red Earth Festival, featuring hundreds of award-winning Native artists and dancers who celebrate the richness and diversity of their heritage with the world.

Plaza District

The Plaza District is a budding area in Oklahoma City that continues to evolve through revitalization efforts, with some of the most popular restaurants, bars and retail spaces calling it home. The area also hosts Live! on the Plaza on the 2nd Friday of each month, where live music and fresh food abounds, as well as the Plaza District Festival in the fall.

Home to one of the nation's largest collections of firearms, the 45th Infantry Division Museum in Oklahoma City features a wide array of memorabilia related to the military history of the state of Oklahoma.
