The Three Sisters Celebration is an annual event at the Chickasaw Cultural Center that observes the changing of the seasons, when essential crops like squash, corn and beans take root. Join the festivities from March 19 to March 25!
An ancient method of gardening, the “Three Sisters” technique uses an intercropping system to grow corn, beans and squash simultaneously. It provides long-term soil fertility and healthy crops of food; be sure to check out examples of the system in gardens across the Cultural Center campus.
Activities in the Living Village include gardening demonstrations, food samples, cultural activities, archery, stickball, face painting, crafts, storytelling, stomp dance and more. Don’t miss out on one of the Chickasaw Cultural Center’s biggest events of the year! Free and open to the public.
