The Paseo area was developed in 1929 as the first shopping district in the state, gradually becoming home to local artists and musicians. Today, the Paseo’s Spanish revival buildings are home to 22 galleries, restaurants, boutiques and more.
Whether your budget is on the low end or the high end, Paseo has something to satisfy your cravings. Check out Sauced on Paseo, a favorite local hangout that brings together the quirky charms of its neighborhood with an assortment of mouth-watering pizzas, sandwiches and appetizers; opt for Picasso Café, an artsy eatery featuring fresh, locally-sourced foods, signature cocktails and live music; or, for a romantic night out, visit Paseo Grill for a succulent steak.
If it’s art you’re interested in, stop by PaseoArtWorks to peruse an eclectic collection of fine art by Oklahoma artists; Bombs Away Art Co., specializing in punk rock-inspired T-shirts, prints and posters; or In Your Eye Gallery, a dynamic co-op of 12 Oklahoma artists.
But a trip to the Paseo simply isn’t complete without visiting Craig’s Curious Emporium. This one-of-a-kind shop is packed to the brim with unusual gifts, handmade candles, incense, scented oils, jewelry and cool items from as many countries from which they’re able to source. As Craig’s boasts, “We have nothing you need, but everything you want!”
Be sure to visit for First Friday, the Paseo's monthly art walk, featuring dozens of artists and several opening receptions held in participating district galleries. The Paseo Arts Festival is also held annually on Memorial Day Weekend, combining art, food, music and family fun.
