When Clay Walker was only 16 years old, working as a desk clerk at a Super 8 Motel, he stopped by a nearby radio station with a tape of a song he had written. The disc jockey said it was against corporate policy to play tapes like that on the air. Heartbroken, Walker got into his car and drove off. He was listening to the radio on the way home when the DJ said, “Folks, I’m not supposed to do this, but this song is too good to pass up.” And on came Walker’s record.
The career-defining moment ignited one incredible country music career. Since his two Billboard No. 1 hit singles in 1993, “What’s It To You” and “Live Until I Die,” Clay Walker has placed 31 more top tracks on the charts. You know and love his singles, like “Dreaming with My Eyes Open,” “If I Could Make a Living” and “Rumor Has It.”
You can see Clay Walker live in concert at Riverwind Casino on Friday, November 13, at 8 p.m.
